What is HackOverflow?

HackOverflow is CYSCOM VIT's (formerly OWASP VIT Chennai) flagship hackathon. HackOverflow encourages to present their solutions to tackle challenging real-world problems. It is a platform to compete and network with like-minded and skilled students from all walks of life.

It is a online ideathon + 24 offline hour hackathon event, themed on latest technological requirements of NGOs, and startups, focusing on the domains of blockchain, AI & ML, IOT etc. So gather your teams and get ready for the ultimate technical-skills showdown from 27th September (Tuesday) to 2nd October (Sunday).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to know coding to take part in this event?

No, absolutely not. The first and qualifying round of HackOverflow is a ideathon, where only the limits of your imaginatin will be tested, and no implementation will be asked.

However, for the 2nd round, it is recommended to have one member who knows to code a bit in any one language in your team, since you have to implement your idea.

Can I team up with students from other branches, years or colleges?

Yes, you can team up with any student of any universtity for HackOverflow, provided they must be able to attend the 24-hour offline part of the event (hackathon), if they are selected for the next round.

Will I have to miss classes for the event?

All VIT Chennai students (except 1st years) will get OD (On Duty) for the event, meaning they will not be marked absent for the classes they miss.

What is the cost of registering for the event?

You can register for just 100 rupees per team member. In exchange, you will get certificates for all rounds you are a part of, food and OD for the hackathon, plus a chance to win cash prizes from a pool of 25,000 rupees!
